Last Wednesday, the traditional faculty-wide soccer cup, the AlumniUM WiWi-Cup, took place at the facilities of 1. FC Gievenbeck. During a suspenseful and close group stage, our Institute’s team claimed the 2nd place and advanced to the K.O. stage. The team narrowly missed a podium position after losing the semifinal and match for 3rd place after penalty shootouts.
A few days ago, our PhD stduents Hannes Doering and Simon Schoelzel had the great honor and pleasure to present their joint research project on measuring transformational change and its economic consequences at the 45th annual congress of the EAA - European Accounting Association in Helsinki. In the subsequent paper discussion and Q&A session, our colleagues received valuable feedback and food for thought on the project from the discussant and audience.
The American Institute of CPAs® (AICPA) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants® (CIMA), have appointed Prof. Dr. Martin Artz as a Panel Member of the AICPA-CIMA Central and Eastern European (CEE) Research Centre. The AICPA-CIMA CEE Research Centre gathers leading experts in the field of management accounting and was established as a collaborative project between universities, the public sector, and key industry players in the region to, among other things, publish state-of-the-art research papers and case study materials.
The topics for our upcoming Master Seminar Management Accounting & Control (ACM05/06) are now published on the course page. In the winter term 2023/24, the seminar will cover current topics in the field of performance management and valuation. Application deadline is July 3rd, 2023. Katharina Hombach is a full professor for Financial Accounting and Corporate Governance at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. Her research topics include corporate transparency and reporting.
PwC invites students to a networking event on May 25, 2023 in Hamburg and Cologne and on June 1, 2023 in Berlin. Students will have the opportunity to gain insights into the PwC offices at the respective locations and to get to know different departments and experts while enjoying finger food and drinks. The networking event will then continue on the water with 2-3 hour trips on chartered boats.

Last week, our team had the pleasure of attending the 20th Annual Conference for Management Accounting Research (ACMAR) on WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management’s Vallendar campus.
Just as last year, we again experienced insightful keynotes, great paper presentations, and lively discussions.
A personal highlight for our whole team, however, was the great presentation by our PhD student Silvan Kindinger, who presented his dissertation project on target ratcheting.
