BASF Showcases AI Transformation in Finance in “From Data to Insights” Course

Yesterday, Tobias Kawohl, Global AI Transformation Manager at BASF, demonstrated how theoretical concepts from the “From Data to Insights” course are translated into impactful AI applications at BASF. Building on the use case he presented in the course last year — where Python and ChatGPT were used to analyze numerical deviations and generate narrative management reports — he presented this year how the idea has now evolved into a broader digital solution.
The approach has been further developed into FOX – The Finance & Controlling Assistant, an AI-based assistant that supports a wide range of tasks across Controlling and Finance at BASF. FOX has been integrated into Microsoft Copilot, enabling finance professionals to interact with data more intuitively, receive automated analyses, and generate insight-rich reports seamlessly within their daily workflows.
Tobias also provided a look ahead at BASF’s AI transformation roadmap, including the increasing role of LLM agents and other AI technologies in enabling more efficient, automated, and insight-driven finance operations.
Thank you once again for visiting, Tobias, and for this fitting and interesting guest talk. It was a pleasure to have you with us again this year!
