Research Associate/Doctoral Student
(salary level 13 TV-L, 75% FTE)
Our preference is for the candidate to start as soon as possible, however, the entry date will be determined in accordance with the candidate’s preferences. The initial contract is for three years but may be extended. Please apply at any time, which may be several months prior to your graduation.
What you can expect
We conduct empirical research on management control, performance management, and strategy implementation with regard to firm transformation, sustainability and entrepreneurship. In these research areas, we strive to improve corporate practice by providing state-of-the-art insights. We are interested in questions such as
- how firms and employees react to unforeseen changes in the difficulty of targets,
- to which extent transformations can be considered a driver for firms’ success,
- how sustainability targets are contributing to a firm’s financial performance, or
- whether management control systems from start-ups can be successfully implemented in established companies.

Right from the start, our goal is to help you complete your PhD program successfully. Your operational tasks will be related, but not limited, to teaching, academic consulting and/or administrative duties.
What you should offer
You have successfully completed or currently demonstrate exceptional achievements in your studies of business administration, economics or a related field and will hold a master’s degree, or an equivalent, at the beginning of your employment. During your studies, you acquired knowledge in statistical and empirical research, econometrics, and applied data analysis.
You are interested in our core topics and empirical research on an international level. Additionally, you have pronounced analytical skills, and excellent German and English language skills.
Furthermore, you are able to work independently, and have a structured and goal-oriented work ethic. Finally, you want to be part of a team and to broaden your academic and personal horizons.

Student Assistant (m/f/d)
The Institute of Management Accounting & Control at the University of Münster under the direction of Prof. Dr. Martin Artz is constantly looking for student assistants (approx. 5 hours/week, adjustable).

Here, you will support us, for example, through literature research, data collection and analysis, or the creation and maintenance of lecture material.
What you should offer:
You have successfully demonstrated exceptional achievements and commitment during your previous schooling, vocational training and/or studies.
Further, you can show relevant practical experience, are able to work independently and have a structured and goal-oriented work ethic. Naturally, you have pronounced English language and MS Office skills.
You are interested in our core topics and in empirical research on an international level. You want to work in a team, and to broaden your academic and personal horizon. Finally, you are motivated to familiarize yourself with new topics and tasks.
