Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Matthias Hemker, Head of Group Controlling at Schmitz Cargobull in our bachelor’s course “Controlling”.
Yesterday, we held our Christmas gathering with our student assistants. After a joint visit to the Christmas market at the Überwasserkirche for some punch and mulled wine, we continued on to dinner and bowling at Nordstern in the Kreuzviertel. For our many new team members, the evening offered an ideal opportunity to get to know the MAC team and the other assistants in a relaxed setting and to make initial connections.
On Monday, we were pleased to once again welcome Henkel as a corporate partner in our bachelor's course “Business administration in practice: Learning from managers” in the redesigned business administration program. Our new cohort of students was introduced to the fundamentals of what controlling is and to get insights into the controlling practices of an international company.

From podcasts to price changes and layoffs: Spotify has made a series of big moves in recent years. In an interactive session, Martin Artz walked our new students through how these decisions flow into Spotify’s cost and revenue structures, and the reasoning behind them. The lecture is part of the new onboarding module in our revamped B.Sc.
Martin Artz and Jens Böke, together with their co-authors Martin Holzhacker (Michigan State University) and Michal Matějka (Arizona State University), were awarded the Best Management Accounting Paper Award by the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA).
