Research Area Innovation Management

Within the area of innovation management / technological change we examine the role of innovations for both firms and whole industries. On firm level, we discuss the issue with regards to planning, management and control of innovations (e.g. open innovation). On industry level, we focus on the question how innovation effect the development of industries. In our research, the automotive sector is often the focal industry since it is of high importance for Germany and faces immense challenges due to innovative pressure. Thus, recent research projects analyze the innovation activity of the automotive industry, for which we use different data sources (survey, expert interviews, and patent data).
