On Wednesday, we welcomed our new Finance Master students at the Juridicum. We look forward to an exciting semester ahead.
After introductory remarks and helpful insights from Prof. Dr. Schneider, the students attended an interesting guest lecture by Dr. Carina Schlam from Deutsche Bundesbank, who shared valuable perspectives from her professional experience.

Guestlectures on Judgement and Decision Making

We were pleased to welcome Professor Elke U. Weber (Princeton University) and Professor Eric Johnson (Columbia University) as guests at the Finance Center Münster on September 30 – October 1, 2025.
During their visit, Elke Weber gave a lecture on “Query Theory: A Process Account of Constructed Judgments and Preferences”, in which she presented new perspectives on how preferences are actively constructed during the decision process, and how the sequence of queries can shape individual judgements.
Brown Bag Seminar

End of September, our colleague Paul Friedrich Hark traveled to Tilburg to present the working paper “The 52-Week High and Corporate Announcement Returns”, which is joined work with Dr. Nils Lohmeier, Dr.Pascal Büsing, and Prof. Dr. Hannes Mohrschladt, at the Brown Bag Seminar of the Finance Department at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management. The seminar offered valuable comments and feedback for the project to our researchers. Thank you very much to Thomas Gruenthaler for the invitation and to Marc Stam for the organization of the seminar.
22nd Corporate Finance Day

At the beginning of September, our colleague Paul Friedrich Hark traveled to the 22nd Corporate Finance Day (CFD) in Groningen. There, he presented the paper “The 52-Week High and Corporate Announcements”, which is joined work with Dr. Nils Lohmeier, Dr. Pascal Büsing, and Prof. Dr. Hannes Mohrschladt. The conference offered valuable insights into current corporate finance-related topics, thereby making the one-day event both inspiring and enriching. Beyond the academic exchange, Groningen left a nice impression as a student- and cyclist-friendly city, similar to Münster.
Annual Meeting of the DGF

This year’s annual meeting of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Finanzwirtschaft” (DGF) took place in the City of Hagen, organized and hosted by Fernuniversität Hagen. Christoph Schneider, Elissa Ana Maria Iorgulescu, Jan Harren, Stefan Menze, Leonie Wieneke, and Leander Gayda from the Finance Center Münster presented their work on a huge variety of finance topics. Our FCM team enjoyed the fruitful discussions and was delighted to make new contacts, meet up with friends, and intensify research collaborations.
New Course "Introduction to AI in Finance"

New course „Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Finance“ held by Dr. Lennart Stitz is now open for registration.
This hands-on course targeted at Finance Master students covers core concepts in AI, machine learning, and the data-science lifecycle, with applications in, for example, credit scoring, financial trading, and fraud detection. Basic programming and statistical knowledge required.
Pre-registration via the FCM homepage is mandatory. Course starts on December 3rd 2025.
Women in Finance receives prize

The Women in Finance project was honored by AlumniUm e.V.'s ProCampus Initiative. The initiative supports projects that sustainably improve study conditions at the School of Business and Economics. In this regard, our FCM colleagues were presented with a symbolic check for €2,700 last week.
Exam Review - Chair of Sustainable Finance (SoSe 2025)

The exam review session will take place on October 9, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Room ST A 1. It will cover the examinations “Socially Responsible Investing” and “Introduction to Advanced Finance.”
American Accounting Association

At this year’s American Accounting Association Conference in Chicago, our colleague Nils Lohmeier represented the Finance Center Münster and presented a joint research project with Thomas Langer and Hannes Mohrschladt.
In addition to engaging discussions of the project and inspiring conference presentations, there was also the opportunity to explore the “Windy City” in perfect weather.
