This summer, Fiona Höllmann and Fabian Wening represented the Finance Center Münster at the 30th Multinational Finance Society Conference 2024, hosted by the University of Vaasa in Finland. They had the opportunity to present their working papers on banks’ exposure to physical climate risk and the role of ambiguity in affecting hedging behaviors. In addition to interesting academic presentations, insightful discussions, and valuable feedback, Fiona and Fabian had the chance to discover the beautiful and unique World Heritage Site of the Kvarken Archipelago.
30th Annual Multinational Finance Conference
BFWG-Conference

This year, the Finance Center Münster was once again well represented at the annual conference of the Behavioural Finance Working Group in London. Five employees from the FCM were present to showcase their latest theoretical, experimental, and empirical research findings. Their broad spectrum of topics included Individual Investor Trading, the Wisdom of the Crowds, Executive Compensation, Voluntary Disclosure, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
AlumniUM WiWi-Cup 2024

Last month, the Finance Center participated again in the AlumniUM Wiwi-Cup, the annual internal faculty soccer tournament of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Münster. Our team, FC Börselona, confidently mastered the group stage but unfortunately had to admit defeat in the round of sixteen.
Together, the team of FC Börselona, along with other employees of the Finance Center, finishing off the evening at the closing celebration in the courtyard of the Juridicum, accompanied by good music, delicious food, and a successful EM public viewing.

Online registration at FCM for seminars in the winter semester 2024/2025 is now open. Please register there until 25.08.2024. Please note that at the beginning of the winter semester 2024/2025 you also have to register at the examination office. Further information regarding seminars at FCM can be found here.
Exam Review Derivatives I

The exam review for the exam Derivatives I from the summer semester 2024 will take place on Wednesday, 10.07.2024 from 16:15 - 17:45 in F 104.
Registration is not required. You need a valid identification document (student ID or identity card) for participation.
Experimental Finance Summer School & Conference 2024

In the beginning of June, our colleagues Yannick Wilner, Jonas Backhus, and Edona Selimaj attended the Experimental Finance Summer School and the Experimental Finance Conference 2024 in Stavanger, Norway. In addition to the exciting discussions and interesting presentations, they enjoyed visits to the beautiful „Gamle Stavanger“ and the surrounding natural areas.
Teambuilding Event

Towards the end of the 2024 summer semester, the members of Finest in Finance (FiF) got together for a team-building event away from subject-specific content. This semester, the FiF members went canoeing on the Werse near Münster. Of course, there was a small internal competition to see which boat would reach the final destination the fastest. However, the focus was on having fun and relaxing after a stressful semester.
2024 ASFAAG Conference

Our colleagues Alexander Nitschke and Charly Gräfe presented their research papers at the ASFAAG Conference in Athens, Greece, in July.
We congratulate Alexander on getting the award for the best PhD paper.
In addition to exciting presentations and discussions, there was time to enjoy the beauty of this ancient city and the great sunny weather.
