Science Award of Sparkasse Vest

awarded to Isabell Menstell

This year, for the 28th time, Sparkasse Vest Recklinghausen offered awards for outstanding scientific work. Former Münster master's student Isabell Menstell was one of five award winners honored at the ceremony at the Sparkasse headquarters on Herzogwall by CEO Dr. Michael Schulte and his project manager Dirk van Buer from the executive board.

Ms. Menstell was honored for her master's thesis “The impact of sustainability performance on M&A deals” which she wrote at the Professorship of Finance with Prof. Dr. Christoph Schneider. In her thesis, she examines the relationship between the CSR (corporate social responsibility) of the buyer and the target as well as the takeover premium in M&A transactions. She explores the question of whether CSR-oriented buyers select more sustainable target companies and pay lower takeover premiums compared to less sustainability-oriented buyers.

At the ceremony, which was also attended by Prof. Schneider, the award winners presented their work and discussed the exciting content with the guests.

The price, which has been awarded by Sparkasse Vest Recklinghausen since 1997, is endowed with 750 euros each for the award winners and 500 euros each for the supervising chairs.
