This year’s annual meeting of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Finanzwirtschaft” (DGF) took place in the beautiful City of Aachen, organized and hosted by RWTH Aachen and FH Aachen. Nicole Branger, Christoph Schneider, Timo Wiedemann, Jan Harren, Paul Friedrich Hark, and Fiona Hoellmann from the Finance Center Münster presented their work on a huge variety of finance topics. Our FCM team enjoyed the fruitful discussions and was delighted to make new contacts, meet up with friends, and intensify research collaborations.
Exam Inspection for the Chair of Sustainable Finance

The exam inspection for the Chair of Sustainable Finance for the Summer Semester 2024 will take place on October the 2nd 2024, in Room JUR 253, from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. The inspection covers the exams “Socially Responsible Investing, Advanced Sustainable Finance and Introduction to Advanced Finance".

CAS-Award won

Our colleagues Jörn Debener, Volker Heinke and Johannes Kriebel have won the Casualty Actuarial Society Award 2024 for their joint paper “Detecting insurance fraud using supervised and unsupervised machine learning”. The America Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA) award is presented annually to the author(s) of the paper with the most valuable contribution to casualty actuarial science.

Annual Conference of the Society for Business Ethics

This year, Alexander Nitschke represented the FCM at the Annual Conference of the Society for Business Ethics in Chicago, Illinois. There, he presented a collaborative research project with Lars Beckmann in the field of executive compensation. In addition to interesting academic presentations, there was also the opportunity to visit the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center (875 North Michigan Avenue) and the Art Institute of Chicago.

On July 12, 2024 the members of the Finest in Finance (FiF) program visited SMP Strategy Consulting in Düsseldorf, a leading company for strategic consulting in the energy and telecommunications sectors, among others. The event began with a presentation of two major projects in these sectors by a partner of the consulting firm.

European Financial Management Association 2024

In June, our colleagues Fiona Höllmann, Nils Lohmeier, Jan Harren, Andreas Pfingsten and Steffen Vollmar had the opportunity to present their current research projects at the European Financial Management Association 2024 in Lisbon. In addition to exciting discussions and presentations, there was still enough time to explore the historic old town of Lisbon at pleasant temperatures.
