After the trip to Düsseldorf a few weeks ago, the second Finest in Finance company event of the winter semester 23/24 took place right on our doorstep in Münster's Technology Park on November 09th, 2023. Following the internal semester kick-off and the welcoming of the new members, the group set off together by bike to the Capcora office. There, the members of the program had the opportunity to get to know Capcora - an M&A and Financial Advisory Boutique.

Bloomberg workshop
On October 31, 2023, Bloomberg hosted a workshop in Düsseldorf for members of the "Finest in Finance" program. The workshop, focused on "How to predict upcoming recession cycles," provided students with valuable insights into handling the Bloomberg Terminal and analyzing economic data. Participants traveled together by train from Münster to Düsseldorf, sharing experiences and enjoying generous catering. They worked independently on the Bloomberg Terminal to understand the relationships between factors such as oil prices and yield spreads, enabling them to predict economic downturns.
Research focus on banks
For more than 25 years, the Institute of Banking at the University of Münster has held a workshop in the fall at which seven research papers on banking topics are presented. Each paper is presented in a time frame of 60 minutes in total, including the presentation itself, a co-presentation and a general discussion. "This intensive engagement with the topics is highly appreciated by all participant:s" comments Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Andreas Pfingsten as organizer of the format.

Rostock Service Conference of the Department of Business Administration
On September 7th and 8th 2023, the Rostock Service Conference of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Rostock took place in its 8th edition. Attractive scientific lectures and a joint dinner formed two successful days. Among the approximately 50 participants of the conference, Lars Beckmann and Dr. Johannes Kriebel from the Chair of Banking were given the opportunity to present and discuss current research results.

Exam Inspection for the Chair of Sustainable Finance
The exam inspection for the Chair of Sustainable Finance for the Summer Semester 2023 will take place on the 12th of October 2023, in F3, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The inspection covers the exams “Foundations of Sustainable Finance, Socially Responsible Investing, Advanced Sustainable Finance and Introduction to Advanced Finance".

Sparkasse Vest Recklinghausen honors Philipp Derwall with award
This year, for the 26th time, Sparkasse Vest Recklinghausen offered awards for outstanding scientific work. Philipp Derwall, a former master's student from Münster, is one of the five winners who were honored by CEO Dr. Michael Schulte and his project manager Dirk van Buer at the ceremony on August 11, 2023 at the Sparkasse headquarters on Herzogwall.
