    Martin Artz is a Professor of Management Accounting & Control at the University of Münster and a member of the Adjunct Teaching Faculty at the Mannheim Business School (MBS). Additionally, he serves as the Academic Director and lecturer of the Executive MBA Programs at the Center for Corporate Accounting (CUR) in Münster.

    His research focuses on goal setting and budgeting, performance measurement and incentivization, as well as organizational design, particularly in the context of market-oriented companies. He has published numerous articles on these topics in renowned academic journals such as The Accounting Review, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Research, as well as a variety of contributions in practice-oriented transfer journals. In 2010, he received the Péter Horváth Management Accounting Award for his dissertation focusing on management accounting and control in marketing and sales.

    Martin Artz completed his studies in 2006 and received a doctoral degree from the University of Mannheim in 2010. As a visiting scholar, he has worked at Michigan State University and at the University of Washington (USA), as well as at Tilburg University (Netherlands). Before joining the University of Münster, he was a professor at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

    Martin Artz serves as a reviewer for leading journals in his field such as The Accounting Review (TAR), Management Science (MS), Contemporary Accounting Research (CAR), Accounting, Organizations and Society (AOS), and the Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR), as well as for research institutions such as the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF). Additionally, he is a member of the Editorial Review Board of Accounting, Organizations and Society (AOS) and Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR).

    Martin Artz has over 15 years of experience in educating and advising managers and companies in areas such as strategy implementation, performance management, planning, budgeting, goal setting, and data-driven performance measurement. He is a member of the Advisor & Expert Network at OMMAX GmbH in Munich and co-founder of zielnavigator.com, a software-based solution for companies to implement strategy via target setting.
