Twenty Years in the Making: Team Muenster wins the JMCC in Montreal, Canada!

7 case studies, 30 teams, 250 international jurors - and in the end one winner: the team of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. Last Saturday, 08.01.2022, the Münster team won the renowned John Molson MBA International Case Competition (JMCC) of Concordia University in Montreal (Canada), successfully surpassing the competition from all over the world.

After an outstanding performance in the group phase, in which the team was only narrowly beaten once by the Haskayne School of Business from Canada after four victories, Niklas Freudenstein, Christian Haupt, Tobias Peterssen and Christoph Vitt first mastered the semifinals with flying colors and subsequently faced off against Porto Business School (Portugal) and Corvinus University of Budapest (Hungary) in the finals. After another strong performance by the team led by the two coaches Florian Droese and Simon Schölzel from our Institute and the Berens research team, it was all over at nine o'clock on Saturday evening: For the first time in twenty years after the last victory in this competition, our team was back on the very top, leaving all other teams behind!

After a week of daily, nerve-racking preparation and presentation of the case studies, question & answer sessions in front of a top-class, international audience, as well as constant, personal reflection on their own performance, the tension in the team suddenly turned into pure euphoria! We would like to congratulate our team for this outstanding and impressive performance on the international stage and thank our two coaches for the excellent support and coordination both before and during the competition! We would also like to thank all the other participants and the organizers for the fair and smooth-running competition! We look forward to competing again for the fortieth anniversary of the competition in Montreal in 2023!
