Strengthening Research Methods at GSERM 2026
Recently, Beatrice Schult participated in the GSERM Global School in Empirical Research Methods at the University of St. Gallen, an international doctoral program focused on advanced research methods.
As part of the program, Bea attended the course “Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA)” taught by Peer Fiss. The course focused on configurational approaches that explore how multiple pathways can lead to similar outcomes and provide a different perspective on complex organizational phenomena.
For researchers studying such complex organizational phenomena, methods as fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) provide valuable tools for understanding how multiple factors interact and jointly shape outcomes.
🌍 Beyond the course sessions, GSERM also offered many opportunities to connect with fellow researchers. Social events as the welcome dinner, the GSERM BBQ, and a shared public viewing of the FIFA World Cup opening match created space for conversations and connections beyond the classroom.
🤝 A big thank you to the GSERM organizers, instructors, and participants for a week of learning, discussion, and exchange.
