Course Description
In times of globalization, (digital) transformation, and knowledge diffusion, this module aims to develop students’ critical understanding of key concepts and theories explaining leadership and human resources in the digital age. Effective and responsible leaders need to be equipped with the skills to make decisions faster, to recruit and manage a highly diverse workforce, to effectively integrate technologies into job and work design, and to motivate workers in hybrid and virtual work environments, while also influencing others and understanding the increasingly interconnected and collaborative organizational and business landscape. In this module, we will investigate the principles of effective and responsible leadership and human resource management in general and in particular in a globalized, digitalized, and ever-changing environment. The module will discuss and explore different topics at the individual, the team, and the organisational level. Among other topics, the module will address ethical technology-enabled decision making, leading a hybrid and diverse workforce, negotiations and conflict management, people analytics, and work design.
Participants are encouraged to explore the interconnected nature of the various topics to be covered and to develop a holistic and critical understanding of the subject. A variety of different teaching and learning methods will be applied (e.g., presentations, case studies, and role plays) and participants are encouraged to be actively involved in classes.
