The Accounting Center of the School of Business and Economics at the University of Münster (Accounting Center Münster, ACM for short) is organized on a decentralized basis and consists of four chairs, which are presented below.

 


The Institute of Management Accounting and Control

The Institute of Management Accounting and Control (MAC), headed by Prof. Dr. Martin Artz, focuses on research, teaching and interaction with business practice in the areas of management accounting, strategy implementation, organizational alignment and data-driven performance measurement. The Institute's teaching is guided by research, with a strong focus on analytical and empirical methods to enable students to understand empirical research findings, conduct research independently and develop structured solutions to new problems. The Chair of International Accounting

The Chair of International Accounting (IUR), headed by Prof. Dr. Peter Kajüter, is dedicated to research, teaching and practice exchange in the area of current issues in financial and management accounting as well as management control with a special focus on the megatrends of internationalization, sustainability and digitalization. The Institute of Accounting and Auditing

Research and teaching at the Institute of Accounting and Auditing (IRW), headed by Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Kirsch, is dedicated to current issues in national and international accounting, corporate reporting, auditing, balance sheet analysis and company valuation. In terms of methodology, the Institute has traditionally focussed its research on a theoretical-conceptual normative orientation that is also practice-oriented. For further information, please refer to the institute website.

 


The Institute of Accounting and Taxation 

The interactions between management decisions and corporate taxes are the focus of research at the Institute of Management Accounting and Taxation, which is headed by Prof. Dr. Christoph Watrin. The digitalization and sustainability of business models as well as the governance structures of companies receive special attention.
