Strategic decisions in the light of climate adaptation: New article published in the Nature Portfolio Journal Climate Action
Prof. Dr. David Bendig, Katharina Hennes and Prof. Dr. Andreas Löschel recently published their article "Facing the storm: Developing corporate adaptation and resilience action plans amid climate uncertainty" in the Nature Portfolio Journal Climate Action. As climate change increases physical risks, global value chains and business operations are increasingly disrupted, making the issue of strategic adaptation to these challenges ever more pressing.
Their new study addresses this research gap and analyses adaptation and resilience strategies based on a systematic literature review of 66 key studies selected from over 3000 publications. In the course of their analysis, the authors developed a "typology" to define the elements of a business strategy for coping with physical climate risks. This typology was translated into a "business framework" that provides companies with a clear plan for taking the first steps towards climate adaptation.
By introducing this practice-oriented framework, they provide tools for companies to strengthen their resilience to climate-related challenges. With this publication, the researchers thus broaden the discourse on climate adaptation and bring it to the private sector.
