    Professor Gernot Sieg is Director of the Institute of Transport Economics (IVM) in Münster, Director of the Münster Center for Economic Policy, and Professor of Industrial Organization—focusing on infrastructure and transport economics—at the University of Münster.

    He has been a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Transport since 2013 and served as its chairman in 2024 and 2025. His research centers on transport markets and transport policy, covering aviation, rail and road transport, as well as active modes such as cycling.

    Before his appointment as Director of IVM in 2013, Gernot Sieg was Director of the Economics Department at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He has taught as a Visiting Professor at the Free University of Bozen (Italy) and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California (USA).
