    Professor Gernot Sieg is Director of the Institute of Transport Economics Münster, Managing Director of the Münster Center for Economic Policy and Professor for Industrial Organization, especially Infrastructure and Transport Economics, at the University of Münster. 

    Gernot Sieg has been a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Transport since 2013. His research areas are transport markets and transport policy and his research covers air-, rail- and road-transport as well as active modes like biking. Before being appointed Director of IVM in 2013, Gernot Sieg was Director of the Economics Department at the Technical University at Braunschweig. He taught as a Visiting Professor at the Free University of Bozen, Italy  and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California, USA. Gernot Sieg has published widely in German and international academic journals including Transportation, Transportation Research Part B, D and E, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Economics Letters,Transportation Letters,  Public Choice, Journal of Transport Economics and Policy, Economics of Transportation. He participates in public debates and his research was covered by  Welt am Sonntag, spiegel online, FAZ, brand eins, New York Times, Süddeutsche, dpa, Wall Street Journal.
