CEAT meets Curacon

On June 15, the CEAT initiative visited Curacon at the Münster harbor. There, the participants were warmly welcomed by Beata Wingenbach and Johannes Freisfeld.

During the event, students interested in taxation gained in-depth insight into tax law governing nonprofit organizations, with a special focus on elder care. They were then able to immediately apply and reinforce their newly acquired knowledge through short case studies.

CEAT meets Henkel

The CEAT semester continued with an exciting company visit to Henkel in Düsseldorf. Last week, the students had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the work of the company’s tax department. The group was welcomed by Bettina Rodenberg and her team, who provided fascinating perspectives on current tax issues and the practical challenges faced by an internationally operating corporation.

How Do Companies Survive Crises?

EY Dortmund Visiting Münster

The CEAT winter semester concluded with an insightful lecture delivered by representatives of EY Dortmund. Michael Kleene (Tax Advisor and Partner) and his colleagues provided students with an in-depth look at how companies navigate times of crisis and the tax implications that arise as a result. The topic has gained particular relevance in light of the war in Ukraine, trade tariffs, and broader geopolitical tensions. The session specifically addressed how companies can be optimally supported from a commercial-law and tax-law perspective in order to withstand crises.

Insight into international tax consulting

At the beginning of the 2025/2026 winter semester, the students of the CEAT excellence program were invited by PwC. On the occasion of a workshop on international tax law, the students traveled to PwC’s offices in Düsseldorf. After a short tour of the building, the academic part of the event began. Through brief case studies and abstract examples, the students were introduced to the work of PwC’s team. Corporate structures in an international context were discussed and examined with regard to their tax implications.

Workshop with Bernhard Rosenkranz

In the second workshop of the 2025 summer semester, students on the CEAT program were able to take part in a special training session with Bernhard Rosenkranz, founder and CEO of Rosenkranz Consulting. The event took place on the campus of the University of Münster and offered a wide range of insights into the key methods of selling and persuasive communication.

A Get-Together Between the Taxation of Influencers and the Foosball Table

Visiting KPMG Münster

In the summer semester 2025, the CEAT support initiative program started with a visit to KPMG in Münster. The students were invited to KPMG's offices at LVM-Versicherung. After a short introduction by KPMG, the participants of the CEAT program were given interesting insights into the taxation of influencer marketing. Not only the income tax consequences, but also the VAT consequences were relevant. After the exciting presentations, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions in a pleasant atmosphere.

A Look Behind the Curtains of the Tax Jurisprudence

Visiting the Münster Fiscal Court

The CEAT winter semester concluded at the beginning of 2025 with a visit to the Fiscal Court of Münster. Each German state has its own fiscal court, except for North Rhine-Westphalia, which has three. This is not only a result of the high number of industries in this region of Germany, but it also creates the opportunity to observe especially interesting lawsuits. During our visit, we followed a case in which a building contractor challenged the revenue office’s rejection of his business expense deductions due to the suspicion of illegal employment.
