Description
The Advanced Sustainable Finance class focuses on the financial consequences of a firm's sustainable performance. It revolves around the subject of whether and how businesses can act sustainably while increasing shareholder value. We begin by examining how corporate sustainability is defined and assessed, and then compare a company's environmental performance to its financial performance. Corporate sustainability behaviour can be connected to a company's profitability because it influences expenses and revenues. Furthermore, recent evidence indicates that sustainability influences the cost of debt and equity. In this section of the programme, we also examine Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) and the ramifications of issuing green bonds.
Finally, we investigate whether and how corporate managers may be motivated to make businesses more sustainable, as well as how shareholders might actively advocate sustainable practices.
