At this year’s American Accounting Association Conference in Chicago, our colleague Nils Lohmeier represented the Finance Center Münster and presented a joint research project with Thomas Langer and Hannes Mohrschladt.
In addition to engaging discussions of the project and inspiring conference presentations, there was also the opportunity to explore the “Windy City” in perfect weather.
In August, Nils Lohmeier and Theresa Hilp traveled to the European Economic Association meeting in Bordeaux. Nils presented the paper “Strategic Communication with a Myopic Loss Averse Investor” in the session “Communication, Information and Attention”. The conference offered valuable insights not only into current finance-related questions but also into a wide spectrum of economic topics , thereby making it both inspiring and enriching. Beyond the academic exchange, Bordeaux left a lasting impression with its elegant architecture and the delights of the French cuisine.

In the next two semesters, Master's students at the FCM will once again have the opportunity to apply their knowledge from the lectures in case studies and establish contacts with practice partners as part of the practical workshop. This year, for the 28th time, Sparkasse Vest Recklinghausen offered awards for outstanding scientific work. Former Münster master's student Isabell Menstell was one of five award winners honored at the ceremony at the Sparkasse headquarters on Herzogwall by CEO Dr. Michael Schulte and his project manager Dirk van Buer from the executive board.
In June, our colleague Christoph Schneider attended the prestigious Western Finance Association Conference (WFA) in Snowbird, Utah – one of the world’s leading conferences in finance. His paper, “Arbitraging Labor Markets” (with Minrui Gong and Ernst Maug, University of Mannheim), was presented in the Labor and Finance session and discussed by Daniel Ferreira (LSE). Beyond the academic exchange, there was also time to explore the stunning summer scenery of the Rocky Mountains.
