Project studies

As part of the Master's program in Economics, we encourage students to write their project study at the Institute of International Economics. For students enrolled in the Master's programs subject to examination regulations (PO) 2008 (10 credits) and 2010/2012 (6 credits) we offer to supervise project studies throughout the year.

Content

During the project study, students work on research topics in the field of international economics selected according to recent publications. The primary aim is to convey scientific research methods to students. Students will be asked to work with relevant economic databases (e.g., Datastream) and conduct moderate empirical analyses by means of econometric programs (e.g., EViews, R, Matlab). Results have to be presented in a short talk before our institute members.

Research assignments will be given individually and in consideration of student's interests and knowledge background, as well as current research projects at our institute.

Prerequisites

Students should have already passed at least one advanced course offered by the institute (International Macroeconomics or Macroeconomics). Knowledge in econometrics or programming are beneficial but not compulsory.

Due to capacity reasons, we cannot guarantee to be able to supervise every student interested in pursuing their project study at our institute.
