Semester Lectures 2025

with the topic "Green Banking"

On May 5, 2025, this year's semester lectures on “Green Banking” took place in lecture hall J4 of the Juridicum of the University of Münster. After the ifk semester lectures had last taken place in 2023, organized by the Institute of Banking, this year's event was held for the first time under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christoph Schneider (Chair of Finance, University of Münster). Dr. Alex Kusen (Senior ESG Strategist, Deka Investment), Dr. Vanda Rothacker (Senior ESG Strategist, Union Investment), Bodo Sentker (Head of Sustainable Finance Client Splutions Corporate Clients Germany, Deutsche Bank) and Frank Knura (Board Representative and Head of Corporate Clients Münster, Sparkasse Münsterland Ost) were four top-class speakers from the field for this very successful event. 

Jürgen Wannhoff (Vice President, Savings Banks Association Westphalia-Lippe) moderated an exciting final discussion on the topic of “Current Challenges in Green Banking” with the participants Torsten Hähn (CIIA/CESGA, Group Head ESG and Corporates in Research, DZ Bank AG), Dr. Vanda Rothacker, Bodo Sentker and Frank Knura.

As part of the semester lectures, the Ludwig Mülhaupt Prize, endowed with EUR 1,000, was also awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of financial intermediation. Our congratulations this year go to Theresa Christiane Hilp, who impressed with her seminar paper on “The influence of sustainability characteristics on the valuation of bonds” and an outstanding exam performance in the Financial Intermediation I module.
