Case Studies in Finance 2025

in Münster

The annual workshop of the Finance Center Münster took place on January 17th this year. Provinzial Asset Management, Moody’s Ratings, Simon-Kucher, and Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe provided exciting case studies. The master students worked on different cases in groups throughout the day and presented their results in the evening.

World Finance & Banking Symposium

in Abu Dhabi

In December, Alexander Nitschke represented the FCM at the World Finance & Banking Symposium in Abu Dhabi. There, he presented the research project “Female Leaders, Stable Banks? Executive Gender and the Two Perspectives of Banks’ Systemic Risk“. In addition to interesting academic presentations, there was also the opportunity to participate in a desert safari with a subsequent Arabic buffet.

American Finance Association Conference

in San Francisco, California

In early January 2025, our colleagues Prof. Dr. Christoph Schneider, Elissa Iorgulescu and Jan Harren had the opportunity to attend and present their latest research projects in the PhD Poster Session at the American Finance Conference (AFA), part of the 2025 ASSA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California.

Summa cum laude honors

for Dr. Pascal Büsing

Dr. Pascal Büsing, a former doctoral student at the Chair of Finance, was awarded the university's dissertation prize last Friday for his dissertation entitled “Reference Points and Expectations in Financial Decision Making”, which he submitted at the beginning of the year. The Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels, traditionally invites all doctoral candidates who have completed their dissertation with the highest grade in the previous year to the summa-cum-laude award ceremony.

2024 Massey Sustainable Finance Conference

in Auckland, New Zealand

Early December this year, Fabian Wening represented the Finance Center Münster at the 2024 Massey Sustainable Finance Conference in Auckland, New Zealand. There, he presented a collaborative research project with Steffen Vollmar on the impact of physical climate risk on bank performance. In addition to exciting academic presentations and discussions, there was also the opportunity to visit the iconic Hobbiton movie set.
