Summer Seminar 2025

This year’s FCM summer seminar took nearly 30 students, research assistants and Prof. Langer to the picturesque coastal town of Hvide Sande, Denmark. Surrounded by the North Sea to the west and the Ringkøbing Fjord to the east, the location offered ideal conditions for watersports enthusiasts.
Participants had the opportunity to take part in a three-day windsurfing course. Some enjoyed it so much that they rented equipment again afterwards to further explore the fjord on their own. Others took to kitesurfing, showed off their wakeboarding skills at the cable park, or simply soaked in the seaside atmosphere during relaxed beach walks.
In the evenings, students presented their seminar papers and led discussions on a broad range of finance-related topics – from large language models in accounting and finance, sustainable finance and the influence of herding behavior on the wisdom of crowds among sell-side equity analysts. A special highlight was Monday night’s interesting guest lecture by zeb consulting, offering insights into sustainability and ESG in the banking sector.
Of course, the trip wouldn’t be complete without a bit of friendly competition: the "FCM-Olympics" brought randomly assigned two-person teams together in disciplines such as Spikeball, water polo, boules, and water pong.
Late-night water polo matches, card and board games, Viking chess, more Spikeball, and the occasional cold beverage ensured that, alongside academic performance, fun and community spirit were never in short supply.
