Visit at Alte Leipziger - Hallesche in Oberursel

as part of the Finest in Finance program

Last week, the members of the Finest in Finance program had the opportunity to visit the ALH Gruppe in Oberursel. This first event of the summer semester was once again a highlight of the program as it is currently the only event with an overnight stay in a hotel. The two-day program started on Wednesday evening with a dinner at the local brewery. Here, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in personal interactions in a more casual atmosphere. On Thursday, the official part of the event commenced with a presentation of the company and a comprehensive introduction to the insurance industry. This gave the members of the FiF program an insight into the special features and challenges of this particular industry. Afterwards, the students worked on a case study in the area of asset and risk management for infrastructure investments. In three teams, various infrastructure topics (energy, communication and transportation) were dealt with and presented for the whole group, with an investment decision being made for the debt investment. Through the case study, the students gained exciting insights into the workings of risk management as well as a better understanding of the framework conditions, opportunities and risks of infrastructure investments. Many thanks to Michael Gold, Etienne du Plessis, Dr. Nicolaus Grochola and the ALH team for this very successful event!
