In March, our colleague Constantin Schneider attended the Annual Meeting of the Eastern Finance Association in Asheville, North Carolina.
During the conference, he presented his latest research and had the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow scholars from across the United States and beyond. Beyond the academic program, Asheville, often referred to as the “Paris of the South”, also offered beautiful scenery and a great setting for inspiring conversations.

Course announcement: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Finance
Dr. Lennart Stitz’s course “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Finance” will be offered again in the summer semester of 2026. Registration for the course is now open.
This practice-oriented course is designed for master’s students in finance and covers core concepts of AI, machine learning, and the data science lifecycle, with applications in areas such as credit scoring, financial trading, and fraud detection. Basic knowledge of programming and statistics is required.
FCM Skiseminar 2026
In March, the traditional ski seminar of the Finance Center Münster took place in the picturesque Pitztal valley in Austria. During the day, participants took the opportunity to explore the slopes of the Pitztal Glacier and connect in an informal setting. In the evenings, students presented their seminar papers, covering topics ranging from the impact of FOMC meetings on asset prices to stock market participation among private households.

"Finest in Finance" is the excellence program of all chairs and professorships of the Finance Center Münster. It addresses personally convincing students interested in finance who would like to developthemselves further alongside their studies.

Exam Inspection for the Chair of Sustainable Finance
The exam inspection for the Chair of Sustainable Finance for the Winter Semester 2025/2026 will take place on the 09th of April 2026, in J253 of the Juridicum, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The inspection covers the exams “Foundations of Sustainable Finance" and "Introduction to Advanced Finance".
Research Stay at UCLA
Our FCM colleague Nils Lohmeier recently completed a research stay at the University of California, Los Angeles. As part of the Behavioral Decision Making Group at the Anderson School of Management, he participated in numerous inspiring seminars and advanced joint research projects. Alongside the stimulating research environment, he also had the opportunity to explore the many sights of the “City of Angels.”

Case Studies in Finance 2026
On 16 January, Finance Master’s students got the chance to put their knowledge into practice during the annual workshop of the Finance Center Münster. NRW.BANK, Moody’s Ratings, RSM Ebner Stolz, and Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe brought along engaging case studies, which the students tackled in groups throughout the day and then presented to the full cohort.
The sessions covered topics such as early-stage start-up financing, evaluating corporate creditworthiness, valuation and crafting an equity story in M&A transactions, and manager selection in private equity real estate.
Visit at REMONDIS
On January 13, 2026, members of the Finest in Finance program participated in an insightful on-site event hosted by REMONDIS-GROUP, focusing on M&A in a sustainability-driven business environment. After a warm welcome by the team, the group visited the Lippewerk, gaining first-hand insights into one of Europe's largest and most advanced recycling facilities and its central role in the circular economy.
