Münster - an ideal place to study!

There are three things that first time visitors to Münster notice right away: the beautiful old town in the city center, the large number of bicycles, and the abundance of young people. More than 50,000 students reside in this traditional, yet modern, university city with almost 300,000 inhabitants. Lake Aasee - located next to the city center - is ideal for strolling, having a picnic, jogging, and sailing. Münster has a lot of cultural offers: its many museums, theaters, cinemas, pubs.

Münster is also a perfect place to start exploring Europe! From here it is not far to the nearby Ruhr district, Cologne, and the Netherlands. Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, the North Sea, and the Baltic Sea are just about 3 hours away by train. Paris or London can be reached within 6 and 8 hours respectively.

Why you should study in Münster?

  • student life in Münster is known for being open-minded, active, and genuinely enjoyable. With a large student population, the city has a youthful energy that you can feel everywhere—from the busy bike lanes to the lively cafés and public squares. Münster’s compact size makes it easy to navigate, especially by bicycle, which is the preferred mode of transportation for most students.
  • the city offers countless places to study, meet friends, or simply unwind. Many students spend sunny afternoons around the Aasee lake, reading, chatting, or taking a walk along the water.
  • what truly defines Münster, though, is its welcoming spirit. It’s a city where you quickly feel at home, where biking to class becomes a daily routine, and where new friendships form naturally.
