Format The Project Seminar on Digital Innovation offers students a hands-on introduction to digital transformation consulting, where they develop modern pilot solutions using state-of-the-art AI and low-code tools to address real-world challenges in innovation and intrapreneurship.
Language All course communication will be held in English. The final presentation and report can be done in either English or German based on an individual agreement with the company “client”.

Content

Are you ready to move beyond theory and drive real-world change? This project seminar offers a unique opportunity to act as a consultant, applying your academic knowledge to solve practical challenges at the forefront of digital transformation. You will work on real-worlds problems for partner companies or even the university itself, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in an end-to-end project setting.

The seminar explores how modern automation platforms and intelligent tools are transforming how businesses operate. You will dive deep into how cutting-edge technologies empower “intrapreneurs” to innovate from within, automating real-world workflows and creating significant business value without the need for extensive coding knowledge. We will focus on Microsoft tools like Power Automate and Copilot studio, which are the predominant tools in most companies and thus constitute a key future digital skill for any office job. This course is designed to equip you with the skills to become a driver of process innovation in any organization.

If you are a proactive and creative thinker who wants to learn how to leverage technology to innovate and make a tangible impact, this seminar is for you. As an optional bonus, you will get the chance to earn an industry-recognized Microsoft certification. Join us to bridge the gap between theory and practice and become a change-maker in the world of business.

Subject-related skills:

Throughout this seminar, you will develop a powerful combination of technical and managerial skills, including:

  • Driving Process Innovation: You will learn to analyze existing business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and design innovative, AI-powered solutions.
  • Hands-on Prototyping: Gain practical experience by building a pilot solution for your client using state-of-the-art Low-Code and Agentic AI tools.
  • Intrapreneurial Mindset: Develop the ability to think and act like an entrepreneur within an established organization, turning innovative ideas into tangible results.
  • End-to-End Project Management: Master the entire project lifecycle, from initial client briefing and problem analysis to the final presentation and solution demo, while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Enhanced Soft Skills: Sharpen your teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills through active collaboration and direct interaction with business partners.
Examinations
  • (50%) Final Presentation (20-30 min) to your “client” followed by a joint discussion of the developed solution (20-30 min),
  • (25%) Final Report that expands and explains the content of the presentation in a “client-ready” way (i.e., your presentation plus additional deep-dive slides/appendices) , and 
  • (25%) Pilot Solution or tangible prototype/mock-up for the proposed solution to your client’s business problem using state-of-the-art Low-Code and Agentic AI tools.
Attendance There will be a multiple clear milestones for which attendance is highly recommended, such as a joint kick-off for all groups, an initial case briefing with your individual client and optional coaching sessions with the ENT team to ensure success.
Other Students are expected to work in teams of 3-5 on the case. We will give our best to accommodate for team preferences.
