Issuance and supervision of thesis
The issue of Bachelor theses always takes place on Tuesdays (issue time: 9.45 am - 11 am in the secretary's office) with advance notification by e-mail to anna-lena.hernandez@wiwi.uni-muenster.de. The thesis is supervised by a member of the Institute staff assigned to the candidate. The supervising member of staff will be announced shortly before the start of the respective quarter via a notice in the institute's display case or at the latest when the topic is collected. After a brief familiarisation with the topic and the preparation of a draft outline, the candidate shall make an appointment with his/her supervisor. Any holidays or absences of the supervisor must be planned in good time.
Proposed topics by the candidates
The student's own topic proposal is desirable. If you have any questions about this, please speak to a member of the institute.
When selecting a topic, it is desirable to orientate it to the research focus of the institute or to the student's own special subject or language knowledge. The topic can come from the fields of accounting, taxation or general business administration.
A list of potential topics can be found here.
If the proposed topics do not meet the requirement level of a thesis, the candidate will be assigned another topic by the institute. Whether a proposed topic has been chosen will only be announced when the thesis topic is collected from the institute.
Practical thesis
If a student has appropriate contacts to companies, it is also possible to write a practical thesis. In this case, it is necessary to contact the institute at an early stage so that an agreement can be made with the company involved. Please also note this intention on the survey form. In particular, the candidate must provide the Institute with the contact details of a specific contact person in the company. It is a good idea to discuss a topic with the company and then submit it to the Institute as a topic proposal. The topic is ultimately determined by the institute, if necessary in consultation with the specified contact person. In this case, the student will also only find out whether or not he/she has received the desired topic when he/she collects the thesis. Under examination law, the practice partner has no say in the assessment of the thesis. Contractual agreements between student and company are also irrelevant under examination law and are the sole responsibility of the candidate.
For Master's theses, there is also the possibility of carrying out a structured Master's thesis in cooperation with Henkel AG & Co. KGaA in a structured form. Further information on this offer can be found here.
