Application/Admission

Subject-Specific Requirements

  • German

The Master's program in Business Administration can be studied in English starting in the Winter Semester 2025/2026. Therefore, proof of German language proficiency is no longer required

  • English

Starting in the Winter Semester 2025/2026, the Master's program in Business Administration will be taught in English. As part of your application, you must therefore submit a certificate proving that your English proficiency meets Level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The table below provides examples of recognized English certificates and the minimum scores required to demonstrate the necessary language skills. The certificate must not be older than 2 years.

Certificate TOEFL (iBT) IELTS UNICERT DAAD
    Level

    ≥ 95 Pts.

    ≥ 7,0

    III, IV C1, C2

Please note that proof of English proficiency is a mandatory requirement. Without a valid language certificate, admission to the program will not be granted. Native English speakers automatically meet the English language requirements. If you hold a Bachelor’s degree from an English-speaking country, you also fulfill this prerequisite. This must be verified through an official certificate from the university where the Bachelor’s degree was completed.

Note: The table above is not exhaustive. Other certificates that certify English proficiency at C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) will also be accepted, provided they cover all skill areas: writing, reading, and oral communication (listening and speaking).

Please ensure that existing language skills are substantiated with official documentation. Merely stating proficiency in your CV is insufficient. Individual (business) English courses taken during prior studies or school-level English qualifications will not be accepted.

Note: Students and alumni of the "Betriebswirtschaftslehre" (B.Sc.) program at the University of Münster can obtain a DAAD certificate through the university’s Language Center. All relevant information can be found here.

  • GMAT / GRE for Non-EU-Students

Non-EU applicants must provide proof of a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) focus or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) in addition to the above requirements.
    GMAT: At least 565 points
GRE: At least 155 points in the quantitative section and 145 points in the verbal section

Applicants who meet the subject-specific and language requirements are deemed eligible for selection and are awarded points for their strengths and achievements. The maximum number of points that can be awarded to each applicant is 100. The strengths and achievements that are taken into consideration are as follows:

You are a top applicant but do not meet the subject-specific admission requirements?

Candidates with official proof that they were among the best 10 percent of the final-year students in their age group are eligible for selection, even though they do not meet the subject-specific admission requirements.

You have less than 40 ECTS credit points in the field of business administration?

If you have earned over 30 points for economics, maths and statistics, then you can use up to 16 extra ECTS for maths and statistics to offset a points deficit in business administration.
