Date of first class: 13 April 2016
1. General information
- This Module (ACM16) consists of two courses: Advanced International Financial Reporting (lecture) and Cases in International Financial Reporting (case study seminar).
- Examination and Credits: final written exam and case study presentation; 6 CP (PO 2010).
2. Learning Objectives, Contents and Methodology
The module deals with advanced issues of international financial reporting of both public and private firms. Topics include specific reporting requirements for publicly traded entities such as interim and ad-hoc reporting, enforcement and correction of errors. Moreover, the module covers IFRS for SMEs and complex reporting issues under Full IFRS, e.g. financial instruments, share-based payment, accounting for emission rights as well as consolidated financial statements. In addition to the perspective of financial statement preparers, auditors and users, the module takes a country-perspective and discusses national influences on IFRS practice. Extensive practical exercises are integrated in the lectures and tutorials. Moreover, students have to apply their IFRS knowledge on complex case studies and to present their solutions in class. The module builds upon the foundations of International Financial Reporting (ACM02).
