European Risk Conferences

Topic and Purpose

The European Risk Conferences provide a platform for both academics and practitioners to discuss issues in the design and implementation of risk management and internal control systems and related issues. The conferences are organized by the European Risk Research Network (ERRN) and hosted by the University of Münster, the University of Bocconi and the University of Nottingham. Funding is provided by the EU’s Marie Curie programme.

The primary aim of the conference series is to educate and train new researchers in the area of risk management and internal control. A doctoral colloquium and the opportunity to present full conference papers form core elements of this training.

A number of funded places are available for both the PhD Workshop and the conference. The funding covers the conference fee, accommodation and travel expenses subject to the relevant Marie Curie regulations.

Programme: PhD Workshop, Conference and Business Risk Forum

In order to encourage interaction between academics and practitioners, the conferences combine parallel sessions in which academic research papers are presented and discussed, with an afternoon devoted to a Business Risk Forum. The forum aims to stimulate the debate on risk management, internal control and corporate governance involving business managers, auditors and regulators.

The PhD Workshops are held immediately prior to each conference. They provide the opportunity to discuss PhD papers with a mix of fellow young academics and experienced researchers and receive personal feedback.
