OBI is the number one in the German DIY and home improvement market and is one of the leaders in Europe. OBI is now represented in several European countries with over 650 stores, including more than 350 stores in Germany. OBI employs over 46,000 people. In 2015, OBI achieved total sales of €6.7 billion. OBI offers a wide and comprehensive range of products: on average, each store stocks between 40,000 and 60,000 items in the areas of gardening, building materials and components, tools, sanitary accessories, and interior decoration. OBI's customers are primarily end consumers such as families, traditional DIY enthusiasts, and professional and semi-professional tradespeople.
The CfM cooperates with OBI as part of the practical seminar on human resources management – case studies from corporate practice. During the seminar, OBI describes to the students a current and specific company-specific challenge in human resources management at OBI. Following this, the participants work in groups to develop a solution to this challenge. The results are presented and discussed with OBI in a plenary session.
