Prof. Dr. Benjamin Balsmeier

Curriculum Vitae:

Benjamin Balsmeier is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Luxembourg since June 2017. Prior to joining University of Luxembourg he was a senior researcher at ETH Zurich and Acting Professor of International Management and Corporate Strategy at the University of Freiberg. He gained in depth practical experience as an expert for empirical policy evaluation at the German Monopolies Commission. He is a former research fellow of the Flemish Science Foundation at KU Leuven, visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, and visiting scholar at the University of Melbourne. He also holds an affiliation with the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich as a research professor. Parts of his research on innovation, corporate governance and entrepreneurship appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics, Research Policy, the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Economics Letters, Industrial and Corporate Change, and the Journal of Technology Transfer.

Benjamin Balsmeier studied Management and Economics at the University of Paderborn and received his doctorate and habilitation from the University of Münster. He gained in depth practical experience as an expert for empirical policy evaluation at the German Monopolies Commission. While being a post-doctoral research fellow of the Flemish Science Foundation at KU Leuven, Belgium, he spend one academic year at the University of California, Berkeley and visited the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on Organisation, Human Resource Management and Innovation. Parts of his work have been published in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organisation, Research Policy, Economics Letters, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Technology Transfer and Managerial and Decision Economics among others.
