Sven Afhüppe
Sven Afhüppe, born in 1971, is editor-in-chief of the Handelsblatt in Düsseldorf since January 2015. After successfully completing the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists in 1999, Sven Afhüppe began his journalistic career as an editor at the WirtschaftsWoche in Düsseldorf. In the beginning of 2000, he moved to Berlin as the capital correspondent for the business magazine. He held the same position at the news magazine Der Spiegel starting in 2004, before moving to the Berlin office of the Handelsblatt in 2006.
Initially he was an economic policy correspondent at Handelsblatt before he became deputy head of the parliamentary editorial office in 2008. In October 2011, he moved to Düsseldorf as deputy editor-in-chief of the Handelsblatt. In January 2015 this was followed by his appointment as editor-in-chief of the business and financial newspaper, which he led jointly with Hans-Jürgen Jakobs until January 2016. From the beginning of 2016 until the end of 2020, he was the sole editor-in-chief of the Handelsblatt. Since March 2021, he has been Global Head of Political Affairs at Deutsche Bank. Sven Afhüppe is a member of the Atlantik-Brücke association.
