Dr. Werner Kook completed his studies in business administration, first in Würzburg, then at the University of Münster, where he was taught by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Heribert Meffert in 1981. Dr. Kook started his professional career in a management consultancy and two years later moved to the Rethmann Group. There he was active in the management of various companies belonging to the group, primarily in the waste disposal industry. From 1996 to 1997, Dr. Kook was a member of the board of Rethmann AG & Co. After the latter took over Rhenus AG & Co. in 1998, he moved to the Board of Directors of the logistics company. From 1999 to 2006, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Interseroh Aktiengesellschaft in Cologne, a company listed on the stock exchange and which is active in the sector of collection and recycling of secondary raw materials. In 2008 Dr. Kook was appointed to the board of Niederrheinische Verkehrsbetriebe AG (NIAG). As general representative of the Rethmann Group, he is responsible for the development of the Public Transport division with Mr. Ludger Rethmann. Currently, he has significant involvement in the investment in Transdev, one of the leading international transport service providers in the field of public transport. Since 2012, Dr. Kook has also been chairman of the Federal Expert Commission on Transport, Infrastructure, Mobility 4.0 of the CDU Economic Council in Berlin.
