Studying with children

Student parents have special needs. Since it is not always easy to combine studies with childcare, the University of Münster provides support for students with small children:

Further information can be found here. The Equal Opportunity office has also put together a number of services for students with children.

If you are struggling to balance your parental responsibilities with your studies, you may be allowed to opt out of an examination after the opt-out deadline has expired. Such exceptions are made in cases where a child is taken ill and needs care. Please contact the Examinations Office of the School of Business and Economics for advice.

Pregnant students or students with children can also contact Tanja Koch at any time if they have any questions:

Childcare Allowance

Since April 2020, University of Münster offers a childcare allowance to all students with children. For hourly childcare or to cover childcare shortages during childcare hours, students can claim a financial subsidy for their childcare costs. Information and application form are available here. If you have any questions, please contact Claudia Cramer at the Equal Opportunity office.
