The Research Hackathon, organized by the ChanCe – Research Center for Business Transformation, is an intensive event that takes place every two years, bringing together researchers, industry experts, and practitioners to collaborate on solving real-world business challenges. The event focuses on applying cutting-edge academic research to the practical needs of organizations, combining academic rigor with innovative solutions. Participants work in interdisciplinary teams to explore and develop new ideas that address critical issues in business transformation, digitalization, and the future of work.
The first Research Hackathon took place in May 2024 and was a resounding success. The event featured a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere where teams worked on research proposals and prototypes that explored emerging topics such as digital transformation, AI integration, and flexible work models. Participants had the opportunity to engage with experts from both academia and industry, gaining valuable insights and feedback throughout the event.
One of the standout projects was “AI as your teammate,” which investigated the role of AI in enhancing team creativity while addressing the potential risks of over-reliance on technology. The winning team was awarded 1,000 euros, which they can use to further develop and implement their project. The hackathon also brought together leading industry partners like BASF, GroupM, and Digital Hub münsterLAND, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation. The event highlighted the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and demonstrated how academic research can be directly applied to solving practical challenges in the business world.
