Abstract
Federal Republic of Earth
Basis Rights and Basic Law for the Whole World
This paper looks at the counterfactual scenario that the whole world is a global federal republic guided by the example of the Federal Republic of Germany, in which the Basic Law would be effective for all men and countries. The Basic Law and the organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany are neither intended nor optimal to integrate all men and nations of the world, of course. Nevertheless, such a global federal republic would probably be more peaceful with better protected human rights and higher welfare than the current world. This paper follows the structure of the German Basic Law with a special focus on the basic rights to discuss adjustments for a global federal republic and possible consequences.
