With an extensive range of lectures and workshops, the Career Development Center (CDC) of the School of Business & Economics supports you with your application process and career planning even during your studies. 

The following events will be offered in the winter semester 2026/2027:

• Economics Career Workshop: Finding Your Path, Setting Goals – 22 October

  Your Future in Economics: From Self-Assessment to Your Own Career Path

  A degree in Economics opens up many career paths, but which one is right for you? This workshop organised by the Career Development Center will help you develop your own profile and identify your individual career goals.

  First, we will explore the differences between a generalist and a specialised education and discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with each. You will then get to know the major career fields in Economics and learn which technical and personal skills are required in each.

  The second part focuses on you: through a skills and strengths analysis, you will identify your talents and explore methods of systematic self-reflection. Finally, we will translate your findings into concrete decisions about your degree programme. Which modules support your goals? When is specialisation worthwhile? And what opportunities are there to gain practical experience while studying? The workshop concludes with an open Q&A session.

• From Outreach to Breach – Human-Centred Cyberattacks with Atruvia – 10 November

  From Outreach to Breach – Cyberattacks That Target People

  Today, cyberattacks often begin not with a technical vulnerability, but with a human decision: a click, a reaction to time pressure or trust in a seemingly legitimate message. In this interactive workshop, you will gain practical insights into modern social engineering attacks and their effects at the intersection of people and technology.

  Using carefully designed simulations of phishing emails and ClickFix scenarios, you will learn to recognise common deception patterns, psychological manipulation techniques and specific warning signs. Another key focus is the role of generative AI and deepfakes. The workshop will also demonstrate how suspicious activities leave technical traces and how initial anomalies can be traced in log data. A group case study, practical applications to your studies and future career, and an open Q&A session round off the event.

  The workshop combines cybersecurity fundamentals with organisational and professional perspectives. It is aimed at anyone who wants to understand why people are a key target in the digital threat landscape and why security awareness is becoming increasingly important for students of Business Administration, Economics and Information Systems.

• The Secrets to a Successful Application – Application Training with A.S.I. – 17 November

  The Secrets to a Successful Application: Navigating the Application Process Successfully

  How can you make a strong impression from the very first line of your cover letter to the salary negotiation? A.S.I.'s training session provides insider tips to help you navigate the application process – covering everything from the labour market to additional qualifications.

  Speaker Tim Sayn will cover topics including personal presentation, the labour market, application documents, job interviews, salary negotiations and employment contracts, placing them in the context of current economic developments. By the end of the session, you will not only know what recruiters look for but also which common mistakes are easy to avoid.

  Would you like to understand how the Digital Euro is shaping the future of finance and what opportunities it could create for banks? Together with Accenture, you will gain exciting insights into this topic and then apply your knowledge in a practical banking case study.

  You will also learn how generative AI is changing day-to-day consulting work. The event concludes with insights into life as a management consultant and networking opportunities with the Accenture team.
