Beta Gamma Sigma

Beta Gamma Sigma (ΒΓΣ) is an honor society for extraordinary alumni and professors in Business and Economics. Its goal is to encourage and acknowledge academic achievements in economic and business sciences as well as to promote economic thinking and lifelong learning. Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) was founded in 1913 and has got over half a million members – many of whom work in higher management positions. With over 530 chapters at AACSB-accredited universities BGS is the largest alumni organisation in the economic and business field.

Who is able to join?

In connection with the first AACSB re-accreditation of the Münster School of Business and Economics (SBE) in 2015, the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter was founded, thereby allowing outstanding students to be admitted to this renowned network.  It is only possible to become a member with outstanding academic achievements (belonging to the top 10% in a bachelor’s and to the top-20% in a master’s program) as well as an invitation of the School. Moreover, PhD students who successfully acquired a doctorate degree are able to be admitted.

Benefits

Beta Gamma Sigma is renowned worldwide for achievements and therefore for the ‘best in business’. Membership enables all alumni access to this network as well as interesting job and apprenticeship opportunities.  Furthermore, members gain access to special events and privileges. Additional information can be found on the BGS website. Alumni who fulfil all mentioned requirements are invited personally by the School. After a one-time payment of $75 (BGS initiation fee), the admission is formerly celebrated once a year at an official ceremony at the Münster School of Business and Economics.
