Abstract

Challenges of the Refugee Crisis for Universities

Flight and migration are old and global phenomena. However, last year the number of refugees to Europe and especially Germany increased highly while the German chancellor suspended the till then prevailing European and German rules. This challenges enormously the whole society, also and notably universities, which get new tasks in research and teaching. Ideally, they get new resources and positions for these new tasks with no strings attached. Otherwise universities have to accomplish this as well as internal adaptions with their own means.
